The Mediterranean region can become a hub for renewable energy investment, promoting European investment in green energy by promoting the interconnection of offshore renewable and new energy between the EU and non EU countries in the region. They agreed to prioritize investment in areas such as offshore renewable energy, solar photovoltaic power generation systems, and renewable energy hydrogen production. The 9 countries will invite the European Commission to conduct research on the feasibility of building a green energy corridor between EU and non EU countries in the Mediterranean region, and prioritize funding for energy connectivity in the region.
Recently, there has been continuous progress in the development and promotion of new energy in Europe: the Netherlands has initiated a bidding for 1.9GW of photovoltaic projects
According to a report recently released by the Dutch Association of National and Regional Electricity and Natural Gas Network Operators, the cumulative capacity of installed photovoltaic systems in the Netherlands will reach 100GW to 180GW by 2050.
The Dutch Ministry of Economy recently stated that 1913MW of installed capacity has been allocated for large-scale photovoltaic and renewable energy projects in the 2022 SDE++project bidding round. The Dutch Enterprise Management Office (RVO) stated that among the installed capacity of photovoltaic systems in the Dutch economy, the installed capacity of commercial and industrial photovoltaic systems is 1051MW, while the installed capacity of utility scale photovoltaic power stations installed on land or water is 862MW, and wind power projects are only 39MW. Overall, the Dutch Ministry of Economy has allocated 2813MW of installed capacity for different renewable energy power generation facilities, carbon dioxide capture facilities, and other heating technologies.
The emphasis on new energy and the efforts of governments in many European countries will lead to faster development of the detailed photovoltaic industry chain.
